Eric Levett
Associate
Eric is an Associate with CCI. He has 35 years experience in the building and construction industry, much of which has been associated with the management of contracts and the provision of contractual and procurement advice.
He has been responsible for the development of contract, procurement and tendering systems and processes to improve operational efficiency and outcomes within the Queensland Public Works Department. He has extensive expertise in building contract law and issues associated with the management of contracts and held the position of Principal for Disputes within Queensland Public Works Department for 10 years.
The scale and scope of projects which Eric has managed are extremely diverse, ranging from high volume low-cost minor works quotations to larger, high-cost projects such as the $60M Police Headquarters Project, the $45M Optus Playhouse and Rockhampton and Yeppoon Hospital Redevelopments.
He has a detailed understanding of the content and implications of both traditional and non-traditional contracts and is particularly interested in transferring this expertise to the management of contracts in a relationship contracting environment. His prime focus for the last 20 years has been in educating industry professionals to manage documentation, tendering and contract management processes in order to avoid dispute.
He has extensive knowledge of AS2124 and AS 4305 and is well regarded in the industry for his expertise in these particular contracts. This recognition has translated to the development and delivery of in excess of 200 seminars since 1989 for various academic and government organisations.
Eric has presented papers on Building Contract law and various contract management processes and systems to visiting delegations from Hong Kong, South Africa, Pakistan and Zhongshan (China) as well as the Queensland chapters of the Institutes of Architects, Engineers and Quantity Surveyors.
He is an adjudicator under BCIPA (Qld) and holds a Certificate in Mediation.
